Accounting Review & Finalization

A Second Set of Experienced Eyes Before the File Goes Out

Your bookkeepers prepare the work. Before it reaches the partner, the tax team, or the client, we review it the way a senior accountant would: unusual balances, unreconciled accounts, misclassifications, and anything that would embarrass the firm if it went out.

When to Use This

When firms add a review layer

  • Partners are spending review time catching basic bookkeeping errors
  • The tax team keeps sending files back to bookkeeping during busy season
  • Junior bookkeepers need a senior check before the client sees the financials
  • Quarterly CFO or advisory packages need to be right the first time
  • The firm has grown and the review bottleneck sits with one or two senior people
Scope

What a review engagement includes

  • Balance sheet review: every account tied to a reconciliation or a schedule
  • P&L review for misclassifications, unusual swings, and missing recurring items
  • Check that bank, credit card, and loan reconciliations are complete and current
  • Review of payroll liabilities against provider reports
  • AR and AP aging review with stale items flagged
  • Financial statement cleanup: presentation, account naming, and comparatives
  • Written review notes in your firm's format, with items graded by priority
  • Optional: we post the corrections after your approval
Process

How the engagement runs

1

Set the review standard

We agree what your firm expects on a finalized file: which schedules, what materiality, what format the notes take.

2

Review the file

We work through balance sheet and P&L against source documents and prior periods, the way a reviewer would.

3

Deliver review notes

You receive a prioritized list of findings with the proposed correction for each. Nothing is changed without your approval unless you set it up that way.

4

Finalize

Approved corrections are posted, reconciliations updated, and the file marked ready for tax or the client.

FAQ

Common questions

Is this a substitute for the partner's review?

No. It is the layer before it. The partner still signs off, but on a file where the basic accounting has already been checked, so partner time goes to judgment rather than tick-and-tie.

Can you review files prepared outside QuickBooks?

Yes. We review in QuickBooks Online, QuickBooks Desktop, Xero, and Wave, and from exported reports where necessary.

How is review priced?

Per file for one-off reviews, or a monthly fee for a set of clients reviewed every close. Quarter-end and year-end reviews are scoped separately.

Do you fix what you find?

If you want us to. Many firms have us post approved corrections; others prefer their bookkeeper to make the changes and learn from the notes.
